Happy Halloween

Tonight Bailey, Jack and I went to Trunk~or~Treat at church. The kids had a great time jumping on the big blow up bouncers, making crafts, eating pizza and, of course, trick-or-treating. We trick-or-treated a bit more on our street before passing out candy. Jack loved passing out the candy and he was very generous! Kids must have thought they hit the jackpot at our house.

Black Cat - Food Fun

Last night for dinner, I made Bailey a black cat peeking out of a pumpkin. It is made from bread, peanut butter, Cheeze-It crumbs, marshmallow, choc chips and black sugar sprinkles. We saw this on the Little Nummies blog. This lady really plays with her food!

Halloween Wordle

Here is my Halloween Wordle. Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends.

Carving Pumpkins

Bailey squealed with delight as we pull the cold, slimy guts out of the pumpkins this afternoon. Jack thought it was too messy, but had fun watching. Bailey wanted a cat pumpkin this year and sketched out her plan on paper before we started cutting. Jack wanted a “happy” pumpkin. They both are counting the days until Halloween….

Teacher Appreciation

Among the many things I do, PTA Teacher Appreciation is one of the things I enjoy most. This weekend I made 65 pumpkin pins to give out the the teachers and staff at Hidden Hollow Elementary School. I did do a few Frankenstein for the kids teachers, since I had already given them the pumpkin pins. The note will say "The staff here are like puzzle pieces. Unique in their own way, but it takes each and everyone to make this school run the right way. Thanks for being an important piece to the HHE puzzle! " We will be distributing them tomorrow along with a few treats.

Hot Water

Ah, home ownership. Monday we woke up to lukewarm showers. The element in our hot water heater had gone out. Luckily it was just the element and there were not any leaks. Had a new hot water heater installed and life is back to normal ;~)

Ghostly Pancakes

My little ghouls screamed with delight when they saw these ghostly pancakes! Got the idea how to make these off of the Gourmet Mom on the Go’s blog.

Jack loves to measure, mix and stir.

Bailey is my official taste tester.

Parent-Teacher Conference

I had my first Parent/Teacher Conference with Bailey’s teacher, Ms. Lemm, this week. It went very well and here is what Ms. Lemm had to report:
Strengths: 1) Knows most letter and sounds, 2) can sound blend, 3) beginning to use letter/sounds for writing, 4) positive attitude and eager participant in classroom activities.
Challenges: 1) Consistent attention to teacher directions.
None of this was a surprise. I am thrilled that Bailey is doing well and loves school!

Congratulations to Bailey for getting this months Rudy Reward for Mrs. Lemm's Kindergarten class. It is given out to a student each month for good behavior. Bailey got to go to the library and select something out of the treasure box as her reward. She selected a sicodelic pink/purple beach ball.
