Piranha Diorama

Bailey's class is studying the rainforest this month. One of her assignments was to create a diorama. She chose the piranha from a list supplied by her teacher. I removed the back of the shoe box and Bailey replaced it with a mixture of glue and blue food coloring. The piranha is made from clay that we baked to get hard. Bailey then painted it to look like a piranha. The bottom of the box Bailey spread glue and topped with sand. White glue wouldn't hold the plants, so I hot glued in the greens. It turned out great! She will turn it in for a grade this Friday.

Jack's Bug

For school, Jack had to made an insect. It could be pretend or real, but had to include six legs, two antennae, head, thorax and abdomen.

We put waxed paper wings on our bug. Jack named it Amber. He had to present it to the class and did a great job!

Mr. Nibbles

Here is our new Guinea Pig, Mr. Nibbles. He is so cute! Bailey is thrilled. Jack cryed because he wasn't a dog. I don't see a dog in our future. Poor Jackie Boy will have to settle for a Guinea Pig.

Frog & Toad Junior

"Frog and Toad Junior" was this year's 1st grade program. Bailey was one of the flowers and the back up frog. I am so glad that she wasn't too disappointed that the frog showed up to preform.

Kingwood Library Grand Opening

The new library is open! The kids and I went to the grand opening of the new Kingwood Library on Monday. It is so nice! We are so excited to have the library back up and running. We go every Monday!

Wordless Wednesday

MWF Open House: Noah's Ark

Last night was Open House for my MWF class at WLC. This year, Noah's Ark was the theme.

Every child helped with the rainbow, did a shaving cream cloud, a butterfly, and made one of seven animals. We also gave out their "year books", color hand print books, and a package of microwave popcorn with a "thanks for poppin' in" label.
We had a great turn out. Only had two kids miss!

Jack's 6th Birthday

We celebrated Jack's 6th birhtday yesterday!

Yesterday, was Christian's 37th birthday. We had an enchilada dinner and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cheese Cake! Here is one of Christian's birthday gifts....curtains! He asked for these (if you can believe it) to help darken his room.

Easter 2010

Easter Day 2010 was a great one for the Barger's. Here the kids are with their Easter baskets. After they "opened" their baskets we had a big french toast breakfast before we left for church.

I helped with children's church today. They let the kids put flower on the crosses. Here is Jack with such a look on his face.

We finished the day with a big ham dinner with all the trimmings. Such a great day!

2010 Easter Eggs

We dyed our Easter eggs today.

To make the designs and words we used a white crayon to write on the eggs before placing them into the dye. Here Bailey is decorating an egg.

Wild Flowers in Brenham

Yesterday, we went to Brenham, TX with friends to take pictures in the wildflowers. Here is my Jackie Boy having a great time in a field of bluebonnets.

April 2010 Picture of the Month

April is here and the kids are ready for the Easter bunny. We have already done two egg hunts and plan to do a third on Easter. Christian and Jack both will celebrate birthdays this month. Bailey just got all 1s (equivalent to As) on her report card. Jack is doing super at WCE. We had our annual ARD and will be promoted to 1st grade.
