Oh the Places You'll Go

I saw these Tall Paintings on Pinterest from GummyLump.com and thought of Dr. Seuss’ “Oh the Places You’ll Go!” We did the Tall Paintings, which consist of a half of an large plastic egg glued to a plate and then a mixture of paint and glue poured on top. Then we added the kids pictures with a craft stick and some model magic.

I LOVE how they turned out!

East Texas Egg Hunt

Today, we went to Diboll for a big ham lunch with the family. Esther prepared a wonderful lunch.
After lunch, Meme and Pobby had planned an egg hunt for the kids.
Here Bailey is checking out what goodies were in the eggs.
Great picture of the four of us.
Wonderful day with wonderful people!

Christian's 39th Birthday

For Christian's birthday, we had a big rib eye dinner and chocolate cake with peanut butter icing. Happy Birthday!

Easter Crosses

We did a stain glass looking cross this year. We cut a cross out of black construction paper. Put a piece of white tissue over the cross opening. Had the kids glue tissue in various colors onto the white tissue paper. I just love how they turned out.

Easter Egg Hunt at AUMC

This year instead of the tradition egg hunt, they had stations with games or tasks to complete to earn your eggs. This one Bailey is trying to eat a peep without touching it with her hands.
Then the kids tackled the rock wall!
Posed for some pictures with the Easter Bunny.
Then finished the day with a slice of pizza.
We had a great time!

April 2012 Picture of the Month

Spring has arrived and we are experiencing some wonderful weather. This month both Christian (04/07) and Jack (04/14) will celebrate their birthdays. The Easter Bunny will also make an appearance. We are looking forward to dying Easter Eggs, the Egg Hunt at church and the spring parties at school. I'm looking forward to the four day weekend!

MWF Open House

This year's WLC Open House theme was Dr. Seuss. Here is a picture of all the 4s teachers dressed as Thing 1 and Thing 2. Below is a poem and pictures from the evernt. Ms. Michelle wrote the cutest poem to direct the parents around the room. Some of the items were things we did in the past and a few new ones we found on Pinterest!WELCOME to WHO-Ville!
How do you do??…
Let your little Star
Show you what all they can do….

First, Thing One and Thing Two are all over the place!!
Can you guess what makes up their body and face?
Ten Apples! Ten Apples!
All up on top!
I had to make them and count them
Before they all DROPPED!

I’ve heard there are great Places
I will go here and there….
I’ve made my own balloon
That will float through the air
Green eggs??!
Can you Imagine that??
Now look a little closer…
You can’t eat that??!!
A lot of counting, mazes, and patterns to do
Games with my friends while learning some too!
One Fish, Two Fish,
It doesn’t really matter
Especially when we get to eat them
Our tummies get fatter!

Now to the iPad
You can see all we do
All of my friends and I
Are playing and learning stuff too!

Finally, My Journal
A book of my own
I started it the first day
Can you see how I’ve grown?

Thanks for visiting My WHO-Ville,
I hope you had fun!
This is my special class
Where my learning journey has just begun!

We had a GREAT turn out and everyone LOVED the shirts we made with the bleach pens.

Dr. Seuss Shirts

Look at the Dr. Seuss Shirts we made for WLC's Open House.
To make you will need a shirt, bleach pen and stencile.
We cut the stencils and laminated them. Had the kids trace around the edge with the fine point of the bleach pen.
The lay the second stencil over and have the kids fill in the stripes with the brush end of the bleach pen.
This is what is should look like. Let sit until you achieve your desired color and then rinse off the bleach. I took them home and put them in the washer.
One of our other classes made a Jolly Rodger for their pirate theme too! The kids LOVED these too...especially the boys!
I was worried about doing the bleach, but if you work with one kid at a time it works well. Can't wait to do Shark shirts for this summers Ocean theme.

Grapefruit-White Wine Spritzers

This is a wonderfully light and fruity punch for a spring event! I don't care for grapefruit and I really liked it. Will definately make again!

Grapefruit-White Wine Spritzers

4 cups pink grapefruit
juice cocktail, chilled
1 bottle white wine
(recipe recommends Chardonnay, but I’ve used all kinds of white wine)
2/3 cup sugar
1 pink grapefruit, thinly
sliced (optional)
2 cups club soda, chilled

Stir together the first 3
ingredients until sugar dissolves; add grapefruit. Stir in club soda just
before serving. Pour over ice, and serve. Makes 11 cups.

The Planetarium

Here are the kids kicked back at the planetarium in the HMNS. We saw 2012: Mayan Prophecies. Very interesting how they used the stars to chart their calendar.

GyroXtreme Ride

While we were at the HMNS, the kids could not resist a taking a turn on the GyroXtreme Ride. Here are a couple of picture of them strapping up.
Here is a short video.
The kids seem to enjoy this, but you couldn't pay me to get on that thing!

The Cockrell Butterfly Center

Took a trip to the HMNS to the Cockrell Butterfly Center.
Here we are in the large butterfly habitat.
Grandma and Bailey.
Grandma solo.
Bailey and Jack on a huge caterpillar.
Had lots of fun!
