Bailey: Explorer Extraordinaire

Bailey recently received the cutest book from Meme & Pobby called Fancy Nancy: Explorer Extraordinaire! by Jane O'Connor. This book is about Nancy and her friend, Bree, exploring the fascinating world of birds and insects in their exclusive and glamorous Explorers Extraordinaire Club. Well, Bailey decided that she needed to have her own Explorers Extraordinaire Club. Here she is out in the backyard with all the gear the book says you need to have to be a member. What an imagination this child has!

Jack's Batman Birthday

“Holy Cakes and Ice Cream Batman
The Joker has stolen Jack's birthday cake! Come dressed in comfortable play clothes and help Batman put an end to the Joker's dastardly plan.” was the wording on the evite for Jack’s fifth birthday. We had Batman Snack Mix, grapes, a mountain of chocolate and vanilla cupcakes, Batman fruit snacks, and a chocolate cake decorated with blue and yellow M&Ms. I made the cupcake picks by slipping a tooth pick between the sticker and the sticker back.
The kids bounced in the jumper and tossed bean bags into the Joker’s mouth.

I made everyone a black cape, 1/2 yard of black fabric cut with pinking shears, and Batman mask to keep. We also gave a bottle of Batman bubble bath with a label on top that said "Thanks for coming to my party!
Your Friend Jack"
Here are a few pictures of some of our "super" friends!

Build-A-Bear

Yesterday, Jack made his first trip to Build-A-Bear with Grandma. Bailey and I tagged along too. Jack picked a cute brown dog to make. He stuffed his dog, kissed the heart and put it in so the lady could close up the seam. Jack outfitted his new dog with knee and elbow pads, a helmet and skateboard. He named his new friend Scooter and took him for a walk through the mall. It was so cute!

Bailey is an old pro at Build-A-Bear. She picked a two-tone brown horse this time. She named her new friend Spirit. Here Bailey is posing with all of her Build-A-Bear creations. Thank you Grandma for such a fun outting!

la Madeleine

My mom and I had the most wonderful lunch at la Madeleine in Kingwood. We both had the Salade Sampler, which is your choice of three petite salads, and dessert. I often forget about this place, but if you haven’t been, I would highly recommend it. It is cafeteria style French food and they also have a bakery. Délicieux!!

Bike Riding

We have been taking the kids to the elementary school parking lot to practice riding their bikes. It is a big open area and we don't have to worry about cars. This short clip of Jack is cute, but it isn't going to be long before I'm posting video of the riding their bikes by themselves!

Easter Sunday Balloons

What a fun Easter morning at AUMC! All of the children got a balloon to release. They were to say a prayer and, at the count of three, release their balloon so it would take their prayer to Heaven. It was so sweet. There were a few tears, because some of the kids didn't want to part with their balloon. Bailey was one of about 65 kids who participated. It was a wonderful sight! Thank you Jennifer E. for taking and sending me the pictures.

Pretending

"Hi, may I take your order?" or "Would you like fries with that?" are just a couple of common phrases at our house lately. For Christmas, Jack got a McDonald's cash register, play money and an assortment of food. You can place your order and Jack or Bailey will make it for you. They are also getting good a punching in the amount, asking for money and making change.

Dying Easter Eggs

Every Easter, Bailey, Jack and I dye eggs and this year was no exception. We did a dozen eggs, six for each kid. We used white crayon to draw pictures on some, sticker for other and left a few plain. Anyone have any good recipes for hard boiled eggs?

Cheetos Carrots

These cute carrots are the perfect treat for Easter. They look like carrots but, they are really Cheetos in a disposable cake decorating bag. Thank you Brenda for such a great idea. Happy Easter!

Palm Sunday

Yesterday, we celebrated Palm Sunday at AUMC. Palm Sunday is a Christian moveable feast which always falls on the Sunday before Easter Sunday. The feast commemorates the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem in the days before his Passion. The kids walked in singing Hosanna and waving palm branches. I was so proud of the kids, especially Jack, for wait their turn and following directions. We has a record breaking number of kids participate this year.

Easter Treats

Here are my Easter versions of the Chocolate Pretzel Squares and Holiday Party Mix that I made for Mom’s Night Out. I just used the pastel Easter M&Ms to give that Spring look. Both are super cute and super easy to make!
