Palm Sunday

Yesterday, we celebrated Palm Sunday at AUMC. Palm Sunday is a Christian moveable feast which always falls on the Sunday before Easter Sunday. The feast commemorates the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem in the days before his Passion. The kids walked in singing Hosanna and waving palm branches. I was so proud of the kids, especially Jack, for wait their turn and following directions. We has a record breaking number of kids participate this year.

Easter Treats

Here are my Easter versions of the Chocolate Pretzel Squares and Holiday Party Mix that I made for Mom’s Night Out. I just used the pastel Easter M&Ms to give that Spring look. Both are super cute and super easy to make!

Houston Premium Outlets

Yesterday, Kelly and I found ourselves at the Houston Premium Outlets in Cypress, TX. This is a wonderful outlet mall with an open air concept. Kind of like a strip mall turned to face itself. We did find some deals! If you haven’t already, I would suggest you check it out!

Fun Ride

Aunt Kelly and I took the kids to Chuck E Cheese's for dinner and some fun. I couldn't resist taking some video of this flying bike ride. This ride requires you to peddle to make it go up. Bailey and Jack had a terrific time as you can see ;~)

Jack's turn!

Termite Swarm :o(

Yesterday, we had a termite swarm at our house. They were all around the back door. I have never seen such a sight. I wish I would have taken pictures, but I was so grossed out I didn’t think to grab the camera. Had 2 house inspections and are going to have the house treated. Hope we caught it early and there isn’t much damage.

Surfs Up!

Bailey got a new bathing suit over Spring Break. She immediately put it on and turned our family room into the beach. Here is a cute shot of my bathing beauty surfing a wave on her homemade surf board and blue blanket waves.
Imagination is everything!

The Park

Spring break this year has been a week of wonderful weather. We have tried to take advantage of this by spending lots of time outdoors. Lindsay Lyons Park has a wonderful playground called Angel Park. We met some friends and spent the entire morning yesterday. One of Jack's classmates were there as well. He and Jack ran around playing and cried when it was time to go. Bailey had a great time too. Can't wait to go back!

Raffa's American Bistro

On St. Patrick's Day, the whole family went to Raffa's for a most enjoyable dinner. Located in the King's Harbor Waterfront Development, we sat outside and were able to enjoy the views, as well as, the wonderful spring day! I had the most delicious grilled chicken and bacon quesadilla and southwestern salad. Christian had the redfish, Bailey loved their cheese quesadilla and Jack had BK fries. After eating, we went for a walk down by the water. Bailey has said she liked her meal so much, she is ready to go back!

Front Yard Update

Here is our front yard before the update. Note all the overgrown shrubs in front of the garage and the large empty flower beds around the trees.
Here is our front yard after the update.
Christian took out most of the big overgrown shrubs and cut back the trees. He put sod down around the trees. He also made a beautiful edge around my new smaller flower bed. We planted salvia, dusty miller, geraniums and sweet alyssum. Leave a comment and tell me what you think!

Chuck E. Cheese's

Yesterday was the first day of Spring Break! We spent the morning at Chuck E. Cheese's with around 30 of our friends. We also had cake, since it was Kristi's actual birthday. It was one big play date and the kids used their gift cards they got from Aunt Sissy.
It was so much fun for everyone!

Quiche

A hot breakfast has been on the menu since it has been chilly here the last few mornings. I made a super easy and delicious ham quiche. Here is the recipe:
2 cups cooked broccoli (or ham)
1/2 cup onion
1/2 cup gr. Pepper
1 cup grated cheddar
1 1/2 cups milk
3/4 cup Bisquick
3 eggs
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Lightly grease pie plate. Mix steamed broccoli, onion, gr. peeper and cheese in pie plate. Beat remaining ingredients until smooth. 02 seconds in blender or high-speed 1 minute with hand mixer. Pour into pie plate, bake 35 to 40 minutes or until golden brown and knife comes out clean. Let stand 5 minutes before cutting.

The Teapot Depot

Yesterday, I took my friend, Kristi, to the The Teapot Depot to celebrate her birthday. This wonderful little tearoom, located next to the railroad tracks in Highlands, TX, has just under gone a remodel on the inside dinning areas. We both had the raspberry iced tea, the tea of the day, and a piece of spice bread to start. Kristi had the Flower Pot Chicken Pot Pie, which is their signature dish. I had the Conductor's Plate, which included a scoop of dill grape chicken salad, cup of baked potato soup, corn chips and a cream cheese muffin. We topped off the birthday lunch with a piece of pecan pie. Everything was delicious!
Such a fun way to celebrate a birthday ;~)

I couldn't find a web site, so
I have included their business card.

HHE Open House

Monday, was Open House at Hidden Hollow Elementary School. We stopped by Mrs. Lemm’s kindergarten class to see what Bailey has been up to. They had just finished their Rodeo unit. Here are some pieces of her work we got to take home.

Next, we went to Mrs. Kirchner’s Pre-K class. This is where Jack goes for his inclusion time. A slide show of classroom photos was playing on the TV and she had out some samples of work, including a cowboy with Jack’s face. Jack showed Christian, Bailey and me some of his favorite books. Then it was on to Ms. Seiver’s SCD classroom. Music was the theme here. Jack serenaded us with the color songs they sing. We got to see all the new fun games and matching activities Ms. Seiver had added to her classroom. Last but not least, we visited Mrs. Tragesser’s room where Jack goes for speech. What a fun room, complete with a bubble machine. Good reports from all teachers. HHE … what a great school!
